Every year on April 13th the anniversary of the founding of Sacha Dham is celebrated. On this occasion, the lineage’s flag is solemnly raised at Sacha Dham ashram to renew the ashram’s pledge to support the upward march of humanity to attain Truth and Light. The raising of this flag reminds us of our link with the Divine power behind the spiritual regeneration of man as we enter the new era of the Parivartan, the Shift (expansion) in human consciousness, the transformation of life on Earth for a bright future. With the raising of the flag, we pay homage to that Divine power, and place ourselves under Its protection.
Shri Hans Raj Maharajji explains that the ashram was built for that very purpose – to assist that regeneration, to provide a source of light for sincere seekers, “… a center in Uttarakhand, which will be a pillar of light for the whole world.” (Saint Sacha Baba Kulanandaji)

Sacha Dham Ashram
Extract from The Teachings of Sacha Baba,
In the courtyard of the Highest Being everything is divine, there is nothing that is insignificant. There is nothing that can be left out, divine is every action, every work, every quality and nature, divine is everything indeed. By the power of that all pervasive Being the world is created, supported and in the end dissolved into Him. All the actions of the Highest Being can be divided in the following parts: Name, Form, Lila (play), and in the end Dham (Abode).
Beginning from the name, the whole world merges finally into the Dham. Every name has a particular form and in every form an action vibrates, which gives it its distinguishing beauty. If the Highest Being is without beginning, without end and eternal, and if His play is without beginning and without end, then in the same way His Dham will be also without end, eternal and beginningless. In this connection Sacha Baba’s play points us to Sacha Dham, the organization of which Krishna himself, who is the life inside everyone, spoke about through His holy mouth to His beloved disciple Arjuna:
“Na tadbhasyate Suryo na Shashamko na Pavakah
Yad gatva na nirvatante taddham paramam Mam”
“Neither the Sun, nor the Moon, nor Fire can illumine that supreme selfeffulgent state, attaining to which they never return to this world. That is my supreme Abode.”
(Bhagavad Gita XV,6)
In the 15th chapter of the Bhavagad-Gita, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna, about his Dham: “Listen Arjuna, today I would like to tell you openly a very big secret, because you have dedicated your life to me. People think that you are the one who gets my special grace, that you are surrendered to me, and that you have renounced everything for me. If I don’t tell you this secret today, then it will always remain a secret. I want to relieve myself by telling you, because to hide a secret from a dedicated person would be dishonest.
The whole world is my area of work and is pervaded by me. But in order to manage human qualities and nature, my Dham devoid of qualities lies beyond all this. My central place is the one from whose effulgence the whole world gets light. There is no such power in the sun, nor in the moon, neither such splendor exists in the fire. The light of the sun, moon and fire can not reach there, because that place shines its own brilliance. My residence is in that center, in whose circumference the whole existence is visible. There is my Dham, Oh Arjuna. It is a fact that I am true, so my place also is true. The abode of Truth can never be false. If there be Truth in me, then the light of Truth shall prevail in my Dham; and as long as the Truth remains in it, a balance of Truth will also remain in the world. Whatever is in me, is also in the whole world. Whatever will be in my Dham, the same thing and nothing else, will be in the whole world.”
In essence, these true words of Sri Krishna give us guidance for this mortal world, both at the gross, as well as in the most subtle level. We will have to analyze this. A Lord of this earth, Sant Sacha Baba Kulanandji, [Maharajji Hans Rajji’s master] was on a retreat in Lakshman Jhula. He pointed to this place and said to his companions: “Oh brothers, this place also is ours.”

Saints Kulanandji and Hans Rajji
I once went to Dehradun on Navaratri to a spiritual camp. Sacha Baba proceeded north for some necessary work. We arranged a place in a house of a devotee in Rishikesh. At that time I never imagined creating an Ashram, and there was no plan about it. I came also with some other devotees to Sacha Baba in order to have His Darshan. In the context of his speech, He said: “Oh Hans Rajji, I think that we will have to establish a center in Uttarakhand, which will be a pillar of light for the whole world.” These words came and went. I was staying in Dehradun in an officer’s house. That night, inwardly, Sacha Baba showed me a picture of Lakshman Jhula and said: “Oh Hans Raji, this place is ours.”
Next day I went with some devotees to where the Ashram is situated today. I stood at the top of this small piece of land and suddenly past life memories began to flow. My heart melted and my mind began to say again and again, that this is the place where one day bliss will flow. We will bring a wish-fulfilling tree in the shadow of which many tired pilgrims will rest and experience bliss. After little effort, I was successful and along with my Ashram children I began to live here, in order to build the Ashram. The enthusiasm of the children, and the inspiration of Sacha Baba, both gave me great courage, and automatically the Ashram was finished by itself.
Into the company of those who are detached from the world, come others who are like-minded. The life of one who has renounced the world is full of sacrifice. The detachment of the children, and the renunciation of worldly life, doubled the speed of the work. Who knows the ways of God, when and what kind of work he will ask of us. On the one hand I was weeping the whole night for the spiritual uplift of the children, and on the other hand I was concerned about the construction of the Ashram.
Then Sacha Baba came here again, and when he stepped into the Ashram he said laughingly: “Oh Hans Rajji look, this place is very small for us. If you bought the house that is at the back, then we could make a correct plan for the future construction.” By the grace of Sacha Baba it was easily bought.

God faces different circumstances and mortals face them also. The only difference is that a human being is afraid of such circumstances, and runs away and cries, but God and the devotee are not afraid of these circumstances, neither do they get worried. Victory comes to the one who constantly endures circumstances, and confronts them. Sacha Baba’s will became the order of my life, and the fulfillment of His wishes became the Sankalpa [vow, determined resolution] of my life. I agree with the words of Tulsidas:
Prabhu Karaj Lagi Kapihi Bandhava
(The work of the monkey “Hanuman” is only for God.)
This life is surrendered to Sacha Baba’s work, and this Ashram exists to assist his work. If his mission is completed from here, then I think this is the right use of the Ashram, otherwise it is not useful. However it is an undisputable truth, that the vow of a great Saint never remains unfulfilled. It has never been and never shall be. If this great Saint has taken a vow that this place will become a spiritual center for the development and enlightenment of human beings, then definitely it shall become a wish-fulfilling tree in the future, in the shadow of which the tired spiritual seeker will find peace and satisfaction. The future will be very beautiful and blissful.
From my experience I can say that you should continue your work. The great saint has prepared your destiny so that you can reach perfection. It is my heartfelt desire that this becomes a place where people can acquire spirituality in a natural way. I am making an effort for that. I tell the Ashram people and those who are connected to it, that to fulfill the vow of Sacha Baba you simply become an instrument. He fulfills his vows.
The need of today is simply to be alert. Just some time ago, Lord Krishna said to Arjuna in order to awaken him: “Be prepared to fight.” In the same way I also tell you to be alert and leave your worries about your wellbeing to God, who always takes care of you. Finally, I pray to that eternal source of Truth, which is nowhere outside us, but is inside us all. I pray that He fulfills his vow through us and brings His Light to the world.
